SATAN'S MEETING

I received this really nice email from Joyce a few days ago. And I really think that it’s worthwhile enough to appear on my blog. So yeah, here goes. =)

Satan called a worldwide convention of demons.

In his opening address he said, “We can't keep people from going to pray.”

“We can't keep them from reading their holy books and knowing the truth.”

“We can't even keep them from forming an intimate relationship with their GOD.”

“Once they gain that connection with GOD, our power over them is broken. So let them go to their prayers; let them have their covered dish dinners, BUT steal their time, so they don't have time to develop a relationship with GOD. This is what I want you to do,” said the devil, “distract them from gaining hold of their GOD and maintaining that vital connection throughout their day!'

“How shall we do this?” his demons shouted.

“Keep them busy in the non-essentials of life and invent innumerable schemes to occupy their minds,” he answered.

“Tempt them to spend, spend, spend, and borrow, borrow, borrow. Persuade the wives to go to work for long hours and the husbands to work 6-7 days each week, 10-12 hours a day, so they can afford their empty lifestyles.”

“Keep them from spending time with their children. As their families fragment, soon, their homes will offer no escape from the pressures of work! Over-stimulate their minds so that they cannot hear the still, small voice of their GOD.”

“Entice them to play the radio or cassette player whenever they drive. Keep their TV, VCR, CDs and their PCs going constantly in their home and see to it that every store and restaurant in the world plays non-GOD music constantly. This will jam their minds and break that union with God.”

“Fill the coffee tables with magazines and newspapers. Pound their minds with the news 24 hours a day. Invade their driving moments with billboards. Flood their mailboxes with junk mail, mail order catalogs, sweepstakes, and every kind of newsletter and promotional offering free products, services and false hopes.”

“Keep skinny, beautiful models on the magazines and TV so their husbands will believe that outward beauty is what's important, and they'll become dissatisfied with their wives. That will fragment their families quickly! Give them distractions to distract them from teaching their children the real meaning of life.”

“Even in their recreation, let them be excessive. Have them return from their recreation exhausted. Keep them too busy to go out in nature and reflect on God's creation. Send them to amusement parks, sporting events, plays, concerts, and movies instead.”

“Keep them busy, busy, busy!”

“And when they meet for spiritual fellowship, involve them in gossip and small talk so that they leave with troubled consciences. Crowd their lives with so many good causes they have no time to seek power from GOD. Soon they will be working in their own strength, sacrificing their health and family for the good of the cause.

“It will work! It will work!”

It was quite a fine plan. The demons went eagerly to their assignments causing people everywhere to get busier and more rushed, going here and there. Having little time for their God or their families. Having no time to tell others about the power of GOD to change lives.

Aha. Unfortunately, there’s no “happy ending” in this “story”. I guess the question is: Has the devil been successful in his schemes? You be the judge! Does 'BUSY' mean: B-eing U-nder S-atan's Y-oke?

Hello… =) Guess what? I forgot what I wanted to post.

Whoopee! I’ve finally found a nice book to read. (I’ve been running out of books to read these few days.) =D For the past few weeks I’ve been surviving on Reader’s Digest magazines. It’s not bad, you know. Yay! I managed to borrow the whole complete set of the Chronicles of Narnia from Zech. Today I didn’t get to read it. I had some stuff to do. (That’s the reason why I suddenly forgot what I wanted to post today.)

Aha, I just read in my Cbox that Esther has tagged me. =D (I feel awkward just calling her “Esther”. Ok ok, so to me, she’s my dear Commander Esther. Ahaha)

So here goes:

The 8 good and bad facts about Janielle Beh:

1st good fact: I am home-schooled. (Okay, is this considered obvious?) Anyway, just today Hosanna asked me how I manage to study AT HOME everyday. I know, it sounds boring doesn’t it? Well, that’s because you just don’t see the right “perspective” of home schooling! Ha.

2nd good fact: I go to church. (That’s good right.)

3rd good fact: I like to read. No, sorry, I don’t like to read. Yes! I’d hate to like to read. But I’d love to LOVE to read! Yes, I really enjoy reading better than anyone else. =P

4th good fact: I want to write a book. But, I haven’t got any inspiration yet. Argh.

1st bad fact: I like to eat. I hate rice, though. I love to eat western and Italian and Japanese and – OK OK, I practically like all yummy food. But still, I don’t look fat do I? AND, I hardly exercise. (This is a good fact. But the bad fact is: I don’t exercise enough. It’s partly because I spend too much time sitting in a comfy chair doing reading.)

2nd bad fact: I forget people’s names easily. (I am so forgetful and careless that you wouldn’t believe it if I were to tell you my “sad stories”.) =P

3rd bad fact: I’ve dropped my handphone on the road 3 times. The first time, it fell behind my dad’s HUGE four-wheel drive tire. And I didn’t realize I dropped it until 30 minutes later. The second time: when I got out of the car, forgetting that I had placed my phone on my lap, it fell on the road. I found it lying forlornly on the road 10 minutes after I dropped it. AND, a car just zoomed by. The third time… Ok, I think you are gonna’ have a heart attack soon. I’ll continue with the last fact. =P

4th bad fact: I never use my CD player. It’s rotting already. I seldom listen to music. Except for the piano music that I hear when I practice my piano. (Tragic?)

Well, you just got to see things in my “perspective”, really.

The 3 people I’ll tag:

(Oh man, I can’t think of who to tag weih.) I’ll tell you next time. =P I’m going to sleep. My eyes are popping out of its sockets already. Ta.

Picture of the Day!

Survival Camp – Slaughtering the Chicken

I finally managed to get hold of this award winning picture. Seriously, it’s such a nice picture isn’t it? But unfortunately, there’s something extremely WRONG about it!

What is wrong? You ask.

Why, if you looked closely enough, you would realize that the pretty girl in the picture is SMILING while slaughtering an un-slaughterable chicken! Mind me, my English was a bit out of place there. But really, why in the world was I smiling?! I look so happy don’t I? But that is seriously a serious ERROR. I was nearly close to tears and I wanted to give up already. The half-alive chicken didn’t want to give up, though. But magnificently, I actually managed to smile and make everything look good! Haha. Yeah right.

Study the picture closely. Do you see the chicken head? Is it gross enough? (Nolah, I don’t find it gross enough.) Unfortunately… Haha, but still, I really, really like this picture! Thank goodness my commander managed to snap it. Wonderful, simply wonderful. I can’t wait for the next time to slaughter another chicken. This time, if anyone takes a picture of me, I’ll make sure I screw up my face to exaggerate the REAL thing. (Not the fake thing. That is, the smiling part. Yeah, that was so fake, man…)

Group picture of all the survivers. AND, the merciless commanders. =)

The RAT Movie

Yeah, I still call it the Rat movie. Haha. =P Okay okay, but now I know how to spell it already! It’s Ratatouille. =D Yeap, yesterday I finally got to watch Ratatouille. Hey, I’m actually quite impressed you know. I literally enjoyed myself! No, it’s not some kiddy movie, really. You MUST watch it.

The punch line of the story is summed up by Gusteau - the most famous chef in France (in the movie, of course). The punch line is:

“Anyone, can cook.”

It’s only a short line, but it means much in the movie. Ratatouille is about this insane rat who dreams to be a chef. I bet you already know that, but like my dad said: “The movie makes it so believable!” Yup, the movie really makes the idea of “a rat becoming a chef” so believable! And its seriously hilarious I tell you. Haha. And again, the punch line comes in… Anyone can cook! No wonder they chose the most absurd idea: that a RAT, can cook. (Better than a human, some more.)

Yes, anyone can do it. But is it as simple as it sounds? Imagine a rat! It’s literally impossible, and really quite ludicrous. But THAT’S exactly the point! If it were all so easy, we’d all be sitting around nibbling on chocolates all day long already. (But for a rat, it’s nibbling on garbage…) Its really depends on how determined we are to do something. Our determination determines how determined our future will be. (My goodness, I’m really getting very good at creating quotes!) ;)

Apropos, the French word – ratatouille - doesn’t have anything to do with the word rat, okay.

By the way, “apropos” actually means: by the way. AHAHAHA. Forgive me, I was checking the thesaurus for a synonym for “by the way”, and I thought “apropos” would be a funny word to use.

(Sorry, I’m quite nuts.)

The following shots are the ones I took at Emmanuel’s cell last Friday. I didn’t have time to post it earlier. =)

Me, Kimberly, the covered-faced Zoe, and Josh. (Ish, why does he keep doing that?)

Tonight, Emma’s cell is having War Games. Man, its gonna be so much fun. BUT, I’M NOT GOING!!! Can you believe it? Oh well. Unfortunately. =’( You know what? I’m looking out the window now, and it looks like its gonna be pouring cats and dogs tonight. Oh well, pray you guys have fair weather for the Games! But then again, wouldn’t it be “funner” to play in the rain?! (Yeah, and I’m missing it.)

Mum’s Birthday

We celebrated last Saturday. I didn’t manage to post the pictures earlier. =) So here goes.

No, I wasn't posing for this picture. =P (But I like the car window in this shot.)

Sweet Temptations... Yum yum!

Blue cheese. I HATE it!!! It stinks like maggots. Yes, people eat expensive rotten food nowadays. (If you get what I mean...)

Strawberry!

Ghostly...
Yeah, I've been posting a lot of pictures these days. Hahah. =) Pictures are GOOD... =D Whoopee!! I'm gonna' watch the RAT Movie tonight, I think. ;) (Ya ya, someone please tell me how do I spell the title of that Rat-something-something movie...) Ahahaha. Well, tata for now.
- Oh no, its gonna rain. -

Surprise Farewell Party!

Yesterday I attended the surprise farewell party for Cmdr Deanna and Cmdr Sue Ann. Nearly all the Adventure Ranger girls were there. We had the simple farewell dinner in the park beside the tennis court! It was loads of fun, I tell you. And as usual, most of the fun included snapping loads of pictures (including EMO ones…) in the park. =)

When I was going home yesterday, a very cool idea came to my mind. This morning, I sms-ed all the Adventure girls and told them to say something “nice” about these 3 special people: Cmdr Deanna, Cmdr Sue Ann, and dear Denissa. I told them that I’ll post it up in my blog together with the pictures we took. So here’s what they have to say!

“Cmdr Deanna and Cmdr Sue Ann are wonderful and beautiful commanders. They helped us achieve our merits. And they are so lovable!” – Deborah Ting

“Cmdr Deanna is a great outpost Cmdr. She has a strong personality and she disciplines us well. Cmdr Sue Ann is a caring Cmdr. She understands us, and she ROCKS! Denissa: She is fun, creative, exciting, and most of all she is a great friend to be with!! (I love her "lala" poses) – Grace Kam

Denissa: Awesomedelicioushawtsexygorgeouswonerfull.
Cmdr Deanna: Motherly, caring, spontaneous, semangat, and sporting!
Cmdr Sue Ann: Sweet, loving, happy, and fun! –
Zoe LIM

Deni is helpful all the time. She has a really LOUD voice and she’s a really good friend. Cmdr Sue Ann is a great commander. She has a wonderful smile, and she’s so sweet! Cmdr Deanna is always full of spirit and she’s a great singer. And of course, she’s altogether a beautiful, fit, loving, and caring commander. I’m gonna miss them a… lot! – Anusha

Deni: Miss Hyper that’ll rock your life! Awesome poser who’ll break your camera lens! Superealisticaringenerouspecialoving best friend. Cmdr Sue Ann: Gentle but sporting. Cmdr Deanna: A caring mum to all of the adventure girls. She treats us ALL equally and just like her own. – Shaina

Cmdr Sue Ann is sweet and caring. She’s a really understanding and wonderful commander to have. Gonna miss her so much! Cmdr Deanna is forever youthful and vibrant, and always young at heart. Deni is a great friend and she’s really fun to be with! Those in Abu Dhabi will be so blessed to have her. =) –
Janice

Cmdr Deanna: She’s a great commander. She helped me to achieve great height that I never thought I could achieve. Cmdr Sue Ann: I’m really glad to have met her. Wishing her all the best in her studies in UK. Gonna miss her lots! (Same goes with the Malaysian food):D Deni: One of my best and closest friends. She was always there for me. We’ve shared many unforgettable experiences together. I’m really gonna miss her! :’( Sob sob…* - Abigail C.

Now this is what I have to say:

Denissa is seriously very “wacky” at times! I’ve seen her do her famous “lala” poses. But really, she’s not one. =P Even though I’ve only known her for a very short time, I can see that she’s truly a blessing to all of her friends and those around her. I’ll look forward to seeing you again. Take care and stand out to make a difference in the unknown land of Abu Dhabi! xD

Cmdr Deanna is sometimes a really strict commander. =) But I respect her for being strict enough to discipline us when we get “naughty”. Thank you for taking time to be our outpost commander! Thank you for all the time and sacrifice you had to make. I’m glad that I got the chance to be your Adventure girl! =D

Cmdr Sue Ann is the sweetest commander I know! She’s a soft spoken and gentle person. I’ve only got to know her for these 3 short months. But I’ve really enjoyed her company as a friend. =) I’ll pray you’ll do really well in your studies in UK and come back quickly next year! ;)

Not all of them replied me. So, yeah. That’s about it. =) Only those who replied get to have their say! Now, for the pictures!!!

Fixing up the banners.

Adrianne, our hero. xD

For Cmdr Sue Ann: We'll miss you loads!
For Cmdr Deanna: We love you!

To Cmdr Sue Ann, Esther, and Rosanne:

I didn’t dare to post the pictures we took at the end of the party when everyone was gone. Yes, I didn’t dare. I think the pictures were considered “obscene”. You can pass me the thumb drive this Sunday. =) AHAHAHA.
