The Fun’s Not Over Yet

No! The fun’s not over yet. Is it? Christmas is two days away. Are you looking forward to something? Or are you waiting for something to just happen?

I feel as if I’m waiting for something to just happen. For now. But I know the feeling will pass. I DO have something to look forward to. There’s always something new. As a matter of fact, I’m looking forward to a lot of things. It’s just that, you’ll never know how everything will unfold until it actually unfolds. Anything can happen. Tragedy or miracle, calamity or blessing, tears of sorrow or tears of joy, pain or relief, success or failure, demerits or achievements, life or death.

Or something between life and death.

So many people around us live life so carelessly. Oh yes, they care about their hair, they care about their clothes, they care about a lot of things. But really, how meaningfully are we living OUR lives? Prancing about doing this and doing that, but not really doing anything for any purpose or with any meaning?

Oh bother, I feel horrible. Sometimes I do things so carelessly, I say things so rashly, I do all sorts of things, but in all I do, most of the time I’m not really honoring God. Oh bother, bother, bother! I DO feel horrible now. Am I making you feel uneasy? Well you can close this page right now, but really, what would make you want to read on?

Sometimes we live as if there is no God. We talk as if God is not listening. Well listen up then. What you do defines who you are, and what you say tells people around you how you think and who you look up to.

“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” – Proverbs 23:7

I’m sure there comes a point in our life when we have to stop and drop what we’re doing so that we can pull ourselves away from the world. If you’re genuinely going to follow Jesus, if you’re really intending to take up your cross and follow Him, you definitely wouldn’t have the desire to do what the world does. But then again, how much courage does is take to say to the world, “I’m following Jesus”?

“And there’s no turning back.” Full stop.

How much will it cost you to say that? Your life? Well well, isn’t that exactly what the Bible says!

“For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.” – Matthew 16:25

I Am Legend

Oh wow, its Thursday today! No, nothing special, really. I’m just glad I didn’t have to wake up for piano class this morning. What a bore it would be. Right now I’m staring at my dad’s laptop, writing this. I’m looking perfectly “disheveled”, as my mum puts it – I just finished with some unpleasant house chores, that’s why. Bah.

Gah!

Yesterday, I went all the way to 1 Utama to catch a movie – no, not the Golden Compass.

Instead, I watched, I AM LEGEND…

I went with Zoe, Tammy, Zech, Kedric, my two tag-along sisters, and oh yes (!) Zoe’s “gym-partner”, Jeremy Chor. No, sorry, not gym partner – just kidding. I am badly embarrassed. Really. =’D So shall I give you a movie review now?

(Oh yes, why not? But please, no spoilers.)

Oh yes, of course not. I really despise spoilers.

Yesterday we wanted to watch the Golden Compass, initially. But then Kedric had already watched it, and he said it wasn’t worth watching. The main characters weren’t really dominant in the movie, and there was no proper storyline. They were just running about here and there, fighting a bit and all that. But I thought the trailer was pretty exciting, though. Anyhow, we believed Kedric’s taste for a good movie. So off we went to buy tickets for, I Am Legend.

Man, it sure was a bit shocking at first. And I’m meaning the jumping-out-of-your-seat-and-starting-to-throw-popcorn-in-the-air sort of shocking. But I like being shocked. Or rather, I like the feeling of someone beside me being shocked and jumping out of their seat and throwing popcorn in the air. It’s so, so funny! Ha ha ha. Zoeeeee! :P

But what was nice about this movie is not only the “shocking” part, but also the crying part. Yeah, if you’re the soft type of touchy-touchy person, you’re sure to cry. And please, I’m not insulting anyone here OK. My sissy sister cried when the dog died. Jirene cried, I mean. And please, I’m not insulting her. Anyone can be sissy. Really. I was laughing so hard when Tammy gasped and covered her eyes at a horrifying scene and when Jirene was having the “sniffles” after crying. Taaaammmmy! :P

Well, it wasn’t a bad movie. Not bad. But not the best either. To sum it all up, I’ll quote what Kedric said:

“If you think this sucks, the Golden Compass sucks even more.”

Hmm… Hmm?

Christmas At Midvalley (and Thr3e)

I went to Midvalley yesterday. Knowing that the Christmas decorations would be set up already, my mum suggested I bring the camera and we take some family photos. And so we did. And so I’m posting it here. So you can see it. Haha. :P

Thr3e.

Man, it’s one amazingly, thrillingly, excitingly, engrossingly, well written book. Thanks to Kedric for lending me such a brilliant book. (Although I only had less than two days to read it!) His brother was actually halfway reading it, and he didn’t know. So he lent it to me, and a few hours later, called me saying that I had to give the book back to him cause’ his brother was halfway through it.

It must have been dreadful for Acker to survive not reading Thr3e and continuing the story for TWO days. But since I’ve already read a quarter of it, I was determined to finish it (Although it would have taken me at least a week if I wanted to read it in a “relaxed” mode.) But can you believe it – I managed to finish all 404 pages in 8 hours altogether! Please, don’t take me for being boastful or anything. What’s so much to boast about that, anyway?

But really, I’m boasting that I had the privilege to read this fantastic book. It’s so badly – and I do mean BADLY – twisted; I love it. Haha, never mind, you don’t care that much about a book Janielle claims to be so deadly twisted yet lovely, do you? But I really enjoyed this book. And it’s extraordinary, cause’ I don’t enjoy just about any or every book I read! It’s something to shout about. Yeah, books. Mind me. But mind you, not everyone would enjoy such mysteriously wrought thrillers. If that’s the right way to put it.

Oh wow, I just gave you a sort of book review! But please, with NO SPOILERS. Okay, now for my next book. Let’s see what.

9 Days Before Christmas

My family was invited for a pre-Christmas interlude dinner at the Harvest Community Church yesterday. Half of my relatives were there. And for the first time in months, I saw Abigail Yow. My goodness, she does look a bit different. And maybe, so do I.

I keep forgetting that there are only 350 hours (or maybe less) which equals 15 days, left till the New Year begins. This week will be extraordinarily busy. Well of course, it always is every year at this time. Christmas is approaching; 9 more days! This year, my family didn’t even put up a Christmas tree in our home. We’re so busy running here and there; we didn’t have time to do Christmas decorations!

Here are some pictures I took yesterday. My mother was complaining that I was so busy taking pictures of the whole entire world that I forgot to take some pictures of them. Well, unfortunately no, I’ll remember next time.

Yesterday was the second time I was performing in a concert. Yeap, I play the piano. I practice everyday. I like it very much. I want to play more. I want to play better. I want to play like a pianist. A real pianist. If you get my meaning. :P But I wish it was easier. Yes, I’ll aim for it.
