The Lone Ranger

For those of you in YE who have been wondering where I’d been the past two weeks, well, now you’ll know why. Just yesterday, I went for this Best Ranger competition. It is organized by the Grace PJ Royal Rangers (Selangor 7) and I’ve been joining the rangers’ there about one month ago. This Best Ranger competition composed of 13 rangers who were hand picked by their commanders to participate in it.

Most of the commanders were strict and EMOTIONLESS (*winks to Sam* =P) during the “testing”, which is a very bad thing of course. Haha. All thirteen of us were tested on all sorts of camping skills and first aid. But this was not any ordinary rangers’ outing! We all had to perform OUR BEST for the commanders to rate us as a best ranger. And by the way, we were all not allowed to talk to one another AT ALL for the whole day of testing!

No wonder I entitled this post: The Lone Ranger! =P

So of course, my only friend was God. Haha. Really, I tell you! If I didn’t talk to anyone at all, I’d probably go mad. (I think Zoe will go mad faster, of course. =p) Also, I thank God for one thing that I prayed so hard for: FAIR WEATHER. Yes! And true enough, we really did have fair weather. It wasn’t THAT hot, neither was it too cloudy till everything looked gloomy. If it were raining, everything would be ruined. And the part I feared most is: we’ll still have to continue with the testing – in the rain! But of course, by God’s grace, there were no rain. =)

This morning when I got up to go for ANOTHER testing – the theory test in church, I couldn’t MOVE. My back was breaking and my legs were aching because I was so tired from the day before. But of course, God gave me the strength to get up and go to church. The theory test went well, and I thank God that it’s finally OVER! =D We’ll all get our results in the end of September, during the Selangor #7 19th Anniversary.

During this whole “ORDEAL”… the Bible verse that kept on ringing in my mind is
Philippians 4:6:

“Be anxious for nothing, but by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.”

God is good to me. I’m extremely glad that I had the chance to be a part of this Best Ranger thingy. =) Even though it was NO FUN AT ALL, I thank God that I learned to depend fully on Him during this whole ordeal. =D Even though I felt kinda’ lousy during the testing, I’m glad that I tried my best and did what I’ve studied to do. God taught me how to guard my heart and learn to listen to His promises, rather than the devil’s lies.
Remember, no one is EVER a lone ranger. God is with you.

hey janielle!

this entry made me laughed! =) it's fun to see your side of view. "the leaders were strict and emotionless"? oh dear. was i? hehe. anyway, we were given strict orders as well, to "maintain professionalism" so we cant really talk to you guys. =P

anyway janielle, im really proud of you. and the rest of the girls of course, but i'll let them know later. as for now, i just wanna let u know that i am proud of you. dont feel lousy - u did a great job. most importantly, be focused in whatever u do. im proud that u were able to think calmly eventhough u guys were put into some pretty realistic situations (thank God u werent tested by cmdr jeffrey. he made so many guys panicked with his great acting skills and fake blood!). and yeahhh i know it was lonely! i felt so bad for u guys! esp when u guys cooked. heh.

but ur right - no one is alone. im glad God's presence was profound when u were at the testing. =)

cya in Rangers next week! glad to have you around in Sel#7. take care!
