Heartening Words

A lot of people have gone further than they thought they could because someone else thought they could. – Zig Ziglar

Yeah, I was reading that book again. Zig Ziglar’s Little Instruction Book. Well its not that I’m in a great need of instructions though… I just thought I needed some “inspiration” to write up something for today. xD Haha.

Read the quote again.

It’s true, isn’t it? You can be an encouragement to someone today. A heartening word can lift up one’s spirit and save a person’s life. An inspiring word can draw someone out of his troubled state and motivate him to move on with life, and most importantly, to look to Jesus.

In contrast, a disheartening word can dampen one’s soul and even cause someone to commit suicide! Or even worse, he might cause harm to others because some discouraging fool activated the anger and resentment him. It makes all the difference in the world if anyone could just shut up when they have nothing good to say. Don’t you think so?

“Do not let any unwholesome word come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” – Ephesians 4:29

So are you an encourager or a discourager? Adding the prefix dis- makes a great deal of difference, you know. The prefix dis- stands for: to deprive of, or to remove from. By adding the word courage to it, it simply means: to deprive of courage!

People around you affect you as much as you affect them. Some people are famous for giving others a bad day just because they’re having a foul day themselves. But only a few noble ones will stand out to cheer up those who have had a bad day. So what kind exactly are you?

Was there a time when someone came up to you and spoke “words of life” into your hopelessly lifeless life? Well of course, you might not be so pitifully hopeless, but you do get my point, I’m sure. ;) Haha. People always say, “Look on the bright side; stay positive; et cetera,” but what is the bright side? Is there even a bright side in this darkened world?

A person who really needs hope will respond to what the Bible will say – Look unto Jesus, the author and perfector of your faith! (Hebrews 12:2)

So. Still looking on the bright side?
